Inside Out 2 (review + emotions ranked :)

here is my review on inside out 2 (so good)

Inside Out 2 was such a good movie. In this blog I’ll be reviewing the movie and giving my thoughts about it while also briefly talking about the first film to give you guys background information because it is relevant to my thoughts and opinions. enjoy c:

emotions ranked from my favorite to my least:

1. SadnessĀ  (original emotion)

In the first film, she wasn’t my favorite. But I do see good in Sadness. Her job is to make Riley, (the girl the emotions are controlling) sad at appropriate times. I think she has a very important job just like the other emotions. The reason I like her is because I found her character fun in Inside Out 2. She had scenes I like and ones I admire. For example, when she has to be brave and go in a tube back to headquarters by herself to help Riley. It shows she cares and does want to help! That’s why Sadness is on top.

2. Joy (original emotion) (CLASSIC)

In the Inside Out (the first one), she was at the bottom. I explain why later. But in this move, I love the character development. She accepts people/emotions for who they are and she is so positive. She is always trying her best and has great scenes in the movie that show Joy is always exhausted from trying to find the good in people but she continues to do her best! She’s the main character in this movie and the last, and she isĀ  a classic:)

3. Anxiety (new emotion)

Anxiety has a lot going on. She likes to take control and she genuinely cares for Riley but only thinks about the bad things, and what Riley can improve on. While that’s important and all, that is all she does while controlling Riley and only harms her while turning Riley into someone different. In the end, she realizes her mistakes and apologizes. She is a funny character in the movie and reminds me a little of Joy, always wanting to be in charge.

4. Ennui (new emotion) (french for boredom)

Ennui is one of the newer emotions and is lazy, always bored, and cool. When he sometimes controls Riley he makes her easy going and makes her look cool and chill. He can’t mess up so he’s at a deserving rank.

I’m too lazy to write a lot so here is a little faster of a blog :

5. Disgust (original emotion)

She’s sassy, funny, and iconic. She makes Riley confident, pretty, and cares a lot about Riley’s reputation. She’s awesome.

6. Anger (original emotion)

Anger issues while also being hilarious honestly, I’d put him higher sometimes. He is just a simple character, though.

7. Fear (original emotion)

He’s funny but a basic character.

8. Embarrassment (new emotion)

Embarrassment at the beginning of the movie sides with Anxiety and Envy, but learns it’s not the best choice. He helps my #1 girl Sadness and I’m so sorry he’s not higher but my rankings are always changing to don’t blame me.

9. Envy (new emotion)

She is always wanting everything she sees, plus she sides with Anxiety too much. She reminds me of myself, though, so I still love her as I do all the emotions.

10. Nostalgia (new CHARACTER)

She is barely in the movie and I think she makes it in 2 scenes. She would be higher maybe if I saw her more….

Those were the characters ranked, and now here are some highlights about Inside Out (the first one), so basically just a summary.

So Joy thinks she knows what is best for Riley and is the boss. She often turns down Sadness when Sadness is trying to do her job and showing that Riley is upset. Which is important so people can comfort her to get rid of Riley’s problems. But Joy doesn’t see that and blocks out Sadness. And since she thinks she knows best, when a core memory about Riley getting emotional at her new school is sad instead of the memory being good and happy, Joy gets mad. A core memory is an important moment of Riley’s life that makes up one of Riley’s personalities, like Hockey island, Family island, Goofball island, and more! But Joy thinks they are all supposed to be happy memories, so she takes the sad CORE memory and tries to get rid of it. But Sadness being the smarty she is with those cute glasses, she tries to stop Joy causing them to unplug Riley’s core memories. Without the core memories, Riley has no personality. Meaning she can’t goof around (because she has no Goofball island) and more. Joy and Sadness, as well as the other core memories get sucked up into a tube and brought to the place of Riley’s personality and memories. So the other emotions Disgust, Fear, and Anger are like “what the penguins”

So while Joy and Sadness are trying to come up with a plan to get back to headquarters, Fear comes up with the idea to act like Joy, but it fails TERRIBLY. Joy and Sadness run into familiar faces and whatnot, and Joy sees that emotions can’t be blocked out. Meanwhile, Anger comes up with another idea to run away from home and make new memories that are happy, (which is silly because Joy ISN’T EVEN THERE). Anyway, Joy realizes she was pushing Sadness away, and it was hurting Riley. So her and Sadness get back with some blah blah blah. Joy then lets Sadness make Riley sad to show Riley isn’t happy and misses her old home, because they moved away. But yeah then Riley makes new core memories and everything is great. UNTIL INSIDE OUT 2

Inside Out 2 summary:

New emotions are introduced as the original emotions realize they aren’t gonna help. But Anxiety thinks they aren’t good so Anxiety says Riley needs new sophisticated emotions, and then Embarrassment bottles them up and locks them in Riley’s vault. The og (original) emotions them escape with the help of Riley’s vault prisoners. But while they are busy trying to get Riley’s beliefs, which is just a bunch of memories jumbled up to bake a belief, this one being that Riley’s a good person, Riley meets a girl names Val short for I don’t know I forgot. But anyway Envy envies over Val’s hair and Anxiety realizes Val is the girl who is super good at hockey. And Riley is currently at hockey camp. Anxiety is then rushing to get Riley to be perfect after Riley gets called out by coach for not keeping up and Anxiety makes Riley practice early in the morning and sees Val, Envy being like “oh my gosh we both woke up early to practice hockey!” Anxiety also adds ideas into Riley’s belief area since the old one, Anxiety threw out, the one Joy and the og emotions and trying to get. The og emotions learn they need one emotion to go in a tube to get back to headquarters to bring the emotions back after they get Riley’s good belief. They pick my girl Sadness and she is reluctant but knows she must do it for Riley. So she goes and gets caught by Embarrassment. But he keeps quiet and helps her. Then Anxiety learns from Val that there will be a little game tomorrow to see who will make it on the team. If Riley makes it on it’ll be good for her high school next year. She’ll also make new friends since her old ones aren’t going to hers, which causes her to distance herself from them and often ditching them to hang out Val and the team, but it was all Anxiety’s doing. But anyway, Val told Riley awhile ago that in coach’s office there was a folder that said what she thought about kids. Anxiety makes Riley sneak in and Sadness notices this and tries to stop it because Joy gave her signal that she was ready to come back with the belief, but Sadness gets caught and the tube breaks and Joy can’t go back, learning another mistake she made. So Riley breaks into coach’s office and learns coach doesn’t think she is ready yet so Anxiety makes up more things she thinks Riley can do better and then a new Riley is created. One with all Anxiety’s thoughts, a new belief. The belief is suppose to be good, or so Anxiety and the new emotions thought, but it was that Riley wasn’t good enough. But then Anger comes up with an idea that brings the ogs back to headquarters. But by then, Riley is already at the “game tryouts.” Her new belief doesn’t stop Anxiety and Anxiety wants Riley to shoot 3 goals since Val shot 2 and made it on the team. This makes Anxiety make Riley not pass to her teammates and even causes her to hit a teammate. But Riley doesn’t even help and just gets called out to sit out and Anxiety has a panic attack and is caught in a whirlpool just as the og emotions make it back to headquarters. Joy then steps up and everything is resolved. Riley is now friends with her old friends and makes the team with more friends. And this movie is so good.

Sorry for the long summary I just think this was a great 9/10 movie and is just as good as the old one.

thanks for reading. 1571 words:)
