on october 20th, 9pm mst, taylor swift released her newest, and her tenth album; midnights.
i was asleep. but when i woke up i immediately and listened to it. i had to listen to all the songs on repeat throughout the whole school day to really formulate my opinion on it. so, here it is.
midnights is taylor swift’s tenth album. big milestone there. before this album, it was red (taylor’s version). red is one of my favorite albums that taylor has released (always assume i’m talking about taylor’s version cause those are always better). and because of this, i was expecting as big of a banger as red.
it was underwhelming, to say the least. it definitely wasn’t her best work, because folklore and lover exist. but i wouldn’t say that it was necessarily bad. i think a lot of the songs in this new album are great and i’ve come to really enjoy a few of them. i was interpreting the lyrics of these songs, and a certain number of them have a very passive aggressive tone which i think wasn’t anticipated. i heard that it’s getting hate online and people are saying that it was a flop. they are wrong. it’s only been out for a little more than 24 hours and i think people need to start really listening to it and understand what she’s saying. cause some of these songs are really good. even so, i wouldn’t say these songs could rival my favorites from her other albums.
i love taylor swift.
