Last Saturday, Khang, and Cau Ngan’s family came over for a road trip. I had no idea where we were going because nobody ever tells me the details. My dad had rented two minivans for the 12 of us. It was quite spacious and was the most comfortable road trip. The cars were separated like so; the gray minivan had me, Y Vien, Mo Ngan, dad, TD and Khang, the red minivan had Khoi, TQ, mom, Cau Ngan, grandma and Khoi’s grandma. We drove for about 5 hours and took a couple of detours, looking at mountains and taking a bunch of pictures. We also stopped at Horseshoe Ben(Bend?). It was getting colder and we stopped at Salt Lake City(I think?). We were staying in a house with 4 bedrooms. Of course it could fit 12. My dad and TQ went to go pick up pizza. Of course, Cau Ngan went to get salad to force us to shove down our throats because pizza is not enjoyable without lechuga. After everyone was done showering, Khoi wanted to play a ghost game, so I volunteered to be the ghost. The game was, the ghost(me) was attracted by sound and Y Vien, TQ and Khoi were supposed to run around and try not to get touched by me, if any of them get touched, they have 5 seconds to all run back to their base(master bedroom) otherwise the person touched would die. The more sound they make, the more hostile the ghost becomes. With no sound, the ghost tends to the house with cleaning. It was quite fun, terrifying children as they run in fear of making contact with me. Anyways, the grown ups got irritated since the children kept screeching whenever I blinked and we were forced to go to sleep. I shared a bedroom with TD and whenever I would move a centimetre, the bed would make a huge scratching noise. Not gonna lie, the bed was loud af. When I woke in morning, I was woken by my favorite song. Y Vien’s screeching. Apparently my mom was messing around with her and she felt bullied and threatened. The perfect response to that was to scream and cry. We piled back into the car and were headed to our next stop, I also forgot where this next destination was, but we crossed this dam, and me being stupid, I asked, “Is that the Hoover Dam?” I got bullied. Anyways, we did the usual, made pit stops to pee and buy delicacies. This time, our rental house was very nice, the owner had cat that kept hanging around the house and Khang let it in since he said the cat was shivering. But since TQ kept touching the cat and her allergies were starting, we let it out. TQ told Y Vien about the anime movie I talked about a few weeks ago, A Whisker Away. Y Vien really wanted to watch it so we watched it. But it was really late and the parents told us we had to go to sleep. Again, I went to sleep with TD except in a quiet, top bunk of a bunk bed. The next morning, we continued A Whisker Away, and I cried once again. Dang it. As we were getting ready to go, Cau brought out the badminton rackets the house had. Cau, TQ, me and Y Vien played for a bit. As we were putting things away, the cat came back. We chilled for a bit until we kicked it out of our temporary territory(alliteration!). Somehow, in the mix of things, TQ had joined the cool gray minivan. Amazing. A demon child in the same car as me. We were gonna get Dutch, but for some reason we did not. Cau kept calling and asking whether we wanted to stop for pictures. No. We did not. And then, it started snowing. Yes. It started snowing. We headed into this forest, and I thought that this night was the night I died. Just kidding. But it was really bumpy and hard to get through. I was starting think that the people we contacted for the house were actual serial killers. But we saw Christmas lights and this huge cabin. After parking the owner came out(Caryn) and explained that one half of the cabin was our part. We settled in the cabin. It was small but very cozy, we didn’t bring any food but the fridge had eggs. We ate mashed potatoes and eggs, but I have no idea where the mashed potatoes came from. I showered, and then TQ brought out the Dominoes from the cabinet that had a bunch of board games. We got to play a few games but Khoi wanted to play the ghost game again. The only problem was, when you play a random game, sometimes its only fun at that time. And this house definitely wasn’t like the first one. And then Khang and TD found the Hunger Games on the TV. This was a once-in-a-lifetime chance since the Hunger Games were only on Prime. So we watched the first movie. And went to sleep(I think? I dont know.) when I woke up, I got ready and went outside to play in the snow with Y Vien and TQ. We were mostly just crushing snow and throwing it at each other. Y Vien got cold so we headed back inside. Then we headed back outside to go to Yellowstone. As we were heading out, there was a small hill that we had a lot of trouble getting by. But the owners came and taught us how get to out of our situation. After that, we went through another hill and made it out. We crossed through this flat prairie that was snowed over so it just looked like Winter Wonderland but someone forgot to put up the trees and lights and giant candy canes. We stopped at a pizza pace and ate. We asked the worker if Yellowstone was open. It wasn’t. So we went home. But of course not without taking pictures! When we headed home, we started the second movie of the Hunger Games. I was pretty invested in it but mom made us stop since I wasn’t playing with the children. Before we headed to sleep, Khoi showed TQ and I this funny video. And then we went to sleep. When I woke up, there was a bit of commotion, cause we had to pack and Y Vien was having the big boy tantrum. Oh yeah, by this point we were staying in like Idaho or something and we were gonna go back to Salt Lake City. On the way, I kept thinking about how the world revolves around small, green, rectangular pieces of paper with different numbers on them that come from trees. I thought we were staying at the same house with the bunk bed and the badminton rackets but turns out we were gonna stay at a hotel. When we got there, we settled down our stuff and split into three groups, the one going to the mall, the one going to the lake, and the one staying at the hotel. Khang and dad stayed at the hotel, Mo Ngan, TQ, TD, Y Vien, mom, Khoi and I went to the mall. Everyone else went to the lake. We walked around the mall and went into a couple places, when we went into H&M I found these cool striped shirts but TD said I couldn’t buy them. Then at Forever 21, I found this amazing shirt but when I showed it to mom, she said no. Then we headed to this sushi place that everyone was meeting up at to eat. On the way, TD rented one of those electrical scooter and we took turns riding it. Once we got to the sushi place, we had to wait about 10 minutes everyone to actually show up. But they did. We ate. Amazingly. After that, we split up yet again. This time, Mo Ngan, Cau Ngan, Y Vien, TD, mom and I walked back to the hotel. Once we got back, everyone showered and the parents drank. When we went to sleep, I slept with mom. When we woke up, guess what! We left the hotel for another hotel in Las Vegas. Nothing exciting really happened on this trip. But once we got there we saw a mini Space Needle, Statue of Liberty and Eiffel Tower. The hotel we were staying at was really nice. That’s it. We stayed around for a bit and then all packed into the car to go to the restaurant. Long story short, I learned that Mo Ngan is a Karen.
And then we went home.
